I have seen the generosity of people in the hobby, and I have personally encountered how parts accumulate as time goes on and new trends emerge. I think Kwadshare will be a fantastic resource for beginners in multirotors. Have you thought of expanding it to fixed wing too?

I created a Facebook group called quadswap, the motto is to keep guys up in the air. We all have spare equipment we don't use, we donate or trade to keep going check it out…

So… Would it be bad to make planes out of these?

Using one quad motor, and one prop, you could get tons of people in the air… But it would be fixed wing.

I'm actually going to try to host an event at my college which convinces people to make and fly FT planes. I would love a cheap resource for motors, ESCs, etc. for students to take things home.

I came to an interest in fixed wing flight via the Rotor Riot crew and quadcopters. I didn't realize Steele's connection to Flite Test, and this collaboration makes me pretty happy. Maybe I should pick up Steele's channel again (assuming the risky flying over people and roads has been walked back 😛 ).

The initiative is an awesome idea and I am sure the community will help it grow and evolve into something that will help a lot of new pilots get in the air

its a great idea but i fear it will be abused by some which will harm it. i love the concept, theres s couple of projects/ experiments id do but cant because of money but if this existed in the uk would be amazing but so many in the uk dont have the morals, generosity and honesty that people in the states display, it wouldn't work here.

Question, I was wondering what would be a great plane for my second one. I was looking for a four channel that would be very very cheap because for my birthday, I would be getting some money but not a lot and the rc hobby is something I really love

Good idea and a logistical nightmare with a huge learning curve but I will be happy to be able to send my old gear somewhere without having to waste time selling it for beans or just tossing it…

The idea of having a hobby specific charity is well, interesting :). Sharing our old parts is a reasonable idea, but we do that already, right? – give friends and new players parts etc to get them going. Just about every male school child in the world wants a quad…
So what's the ratio of potential recipients to donating hobbyists? 10,000 to one? No probably much higher than that. Hmm.

Flitetest your videos are brilliant and you have changed the hobby for the better in a very big way.

But you are missing the David/Peter aspect of the show. No one seems to be building cool stuff that we ( the public ) wouldn't be able to do due to lack of time, skill and resources. Instead you have become more a reviewing company (a very good one) perhaps more of a healthy mix of cool/crazy flying inventions like the edf afterburner, flying cinder block etc… would be good ? I appreciate that crashing lots is part if the hobby but so is building. I'm happy to admit I might be alone in my view but you always ask for suggestions so here here you go. This is by no means a negative comment you guys are brilliant.

Please keep going and it's fantastic to watch FT grow.

Nice idea. Why not set up a go fund me page and ask hobbyists to donate money and purchase quadcopter items whole sale and that way people won't get broken parts. What keeps those who do have the money to purchase items from mooching free stuff?

Hi josh and josh of flight test.I just watching the latest video you all put out about people not donate used parts in like maybe receivers or Motors and controllers I build styrofoam plane for my grandkids but I have not no money to make them remote control so if you want to donate controller and receiver and maybe some electrical components for a couple young boys I would greatly appreciate it and you can contact me at this my email address thank you so much if you could possibly help me out and I'll send you some pictures of the plain folks done built in the past two weeks I've got like 11 maybe 12 planes I put 5 Cessna together from the Dollar Tree foam board this week. I have no Motors or controllers or anything electrical to go in them. Really poor

Why would I gift something to people when there are others willing to pay at least a little for it? Motors which people are 'willing' to give away are most likely flown for a long time and thus have worn out bearings / dinged up bells. If you have thousands of dollars of parts "laying around gathering dust" you have too much money and are bad at managing your assets. My 2 cents.
